What is orthodontics and why do you need braces?
It all starts with the initial examination of the patient in dentistry. To establish the diagnosis, the orthodontist will need X-rays of RAM and TRG, as well as to make a diagnostic model of the patient’s teeth. After that, the orthodontist determines the degree of complexity of the work on correcting the wrong ratio of teeth and a treatment plan for braces. The cost of correcting the bite will depend on the treatment plan and the chosen system.

The next stage of orthodontics is the rehabilitation of the oral cavity (we do professional cleaning and treat teeth). Before orthodontic treatment, dental treatment of all detected carious cavities and mandatory removal of tartar must be performed. Only then are the teeth covered with fluoride and the preparation is completed.

The third and most important stage in the correction of malocclusion – the stage of consolidation of the result. This treatment is that a removable or non-removable device is put on the patient’s teeth.

Removable orthodontic appliance is designed for children aged 6 to 12 years, in which the bite is not yet fully formed. This device is made of plastic therapeutic or prophylactic plate. It is she who gradually aligns the dentition. Each such device is absolutely individual and is made separately for each patient, proceeding from defects of its dentition.

Correction of occlusion with braces.
Braces are special treatment devices that are glued to the teeth, inside or outside. All braces are divided into two types – metal and aesthetic.

Metal braces are extremely functional, but very conspicuous. Despite this, due to its low price, this system is the most popular with patients.

Aesthetic – made of plastic or ceramic – are selected based on the color of the patient’s teeth, therefore, more natural. Sapphires also belong to the aesthetic, almost transparent and therefore almost invisible. They are connected by arches made of material that retains its shape. By affecting the dentition, they thus correct its correspondingly changing bite. It is important to understand that treatment is more effective when braces are placed on both jaws. Then you can quickly achieve the correct closure of the teeth.

The wearing time of the system depends on a number of reasons: the degree of change in the dentition, the condition of the gums, the age of the patient. Usually treatment lasts from six months to two years. It is important to understand that correcting the bite is not a quick process, in difficult cases an orthodontist may prescribe a longer period for the necessary treatment with braces. At the same time visits to the doctor should be done twice a month.

At the end of the entire bite correction course, the result is fixed with the help of retainers – thin strips that do not allow the teeth to “run away”. They are also removed or attached to the inside of the teeth.

Bite correction is a difficult and laborious work for an orthodontist and a patient. But the time of wearing braces, patience and careful observance of the doctor’s instructions will pay off with the glow of a chic smile!
